I spent 30 years as a drug enforcement agent, have done countless raids over the years, and commanded one of my agencies tactical teams. This is the FIRST good resource I have seen on single-person CQB. I like it, the doctrine is sound, and it is a great resource for law enforcement and civilians alike. While, my personal advice would be to avoid single-person CQB if you can, we all still need to know how to do it effectively. Especially for civilians, there are times when you need to clear your house alone. It is highly dangerous, but done quite often.
I love this book. I has a great approach of single person CQB. I never see a book that discuss this kind of situation and maybe this more frequent that we can even imagine. So, the book is very good at this point. No one have written something like that. The book is full os drawings and very simple to understand the tactics used. So, is a very easy reading and maybe can sabe your life.There is only one thing about the book in itself that someone looking for this kind of tactics must consider.They use the police approach... Police forces will enter a confined place to surrender the attacker most of the times. They over expose themselves with the confidence that the bad guy will surrender and if not they have the confidence of their shooting training... so... for civilians this is very different...Not very well trained civilians CAN'T hit a moving and shooting target... maybe 98% of civilians can't... trained elite officers can.. The book is very good if the premise that the reader is a good shooter and can try to surrender but are ready to shoot and hit with precision the target.But even for no shooters is important to know the principles of defending... for beginners is a must read... for experienced shooters also because they will be able to see and fine tuning the techniques taught on the book.
This book is the real deal. It's concise, extremely clearly explained and illustrated, and a great guide for anyone who wants to think more seriously about how to protect themselves and the people they care about. If you're reading this review, you're probably more thoughtful about this than the average first-world inhabitant who has lived in relative safety since birth and tends to take safety for granted; but there is still a wealth of valuable observations in here, all clearly the thoughts and lessons of smart people who have spend professional lifetimes thinking about these issues. Examples include:- telling the police you're armed when you call them, so there's a lower chance they shoot you when they arrive- under which circumstances speed is better protection against bullets than cover- how to use doors to your tactical advantageHighly recommended for anyone who doesn't have a strong background in close quarters battle, and a useful reference even for those who do. As with any instruction manual, there are a lot of things left unsaid, including: how to move properly, how to shoot, how to apply basic first aid, how to triage and employ ad hoc weapons, how to plan (what to carry, etc.). It would have been great to see some more of this laid out as a baseline, but as is the manual still stands as a concise, articulate, extremely well-informed reference.
Highly accessible manual on individual CQB techniques. Concise writing and great diagrams make this book a valuable guide for refining single-person CQB techniques. This book sets the standard on a topic that is rarely discussed. All of the techniques demonstrated in this book can and should be practiced regularly by anyone who may find themselves in CQB situations. I look forward to more from the Special Tactics team in the future!

Succinctly written, easy to follow, and highly informative, this is the perfect quick-reference manual for anyone wishing to develop their single-person CQB skill. The information it provides is essential for anyone who wants to prepare for the worst case scenario (home invasion, active shooter, holdup, etc.). Rather than attempt to provide a "school solution", the authors gave flexible principles based on logic and easily adapted to any situation. Great pictures detailing techniques throughout. I'm looking forward to more manuals like these.
