Professor Gaetano Cipolla is Professor Emeritus from St. John's University. He is regarded as the leading scholar for Sicilian language and culture in the US. His Siciliana: Studies on the Sicilian Ethos, contains some of his most important essays. He is also the leading translator of Sicilian poetry into English, with more than a dozen volume to his credit.
